British Bike Ride, 11 Nov. '06

The New England Section and friends enjoyed a scenic, unhurried ride on their old British bikes. The day was unseasonably mild, but finished with a delightful chill in the air. Much of the route was off-road atop the 19th Century Sudbury Aqueduct, which once carried drinking water from reservoirs in Framingham to the city of Boston. There are photos of our tour at http://beauty.nagog.smasher.net:81/gallery/vcc-bww_ride-2006.

Our party enjoyed the fall of dusk at Echo Bridge by Newton Upper Falls, then it was lamps on for a final run to the Cherry Tree in West Newton, whose taps provided refreshments suitable to celebrate a great day out.

New England Section Fall Camp

Mansfield, Mass., 28-29 October 2006

At the top of Moose Hill Road in Sharon, the riders savored a bottle of L'Eroica chianti that club mate Martin Hanczyc brought from Gaioli in Tuscany. After a toast, we rode to the Great Blue Hill where, following a scramble over rocks with the bikes on our shoulders, we finished the bottle on the summit as the sun set on a great New England fall day.
